This is an opportunity for an experienced Practice Accountant to join an established firm of accountants in the Newcastle upon Tyne area at a genuinely exciting point in its development.

The role would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of their own portfolio of clients, building strong long-term relationships and playing a key role in making sure work is delivered properly, professionally and to a high standard.

You will be involved in managing a varied client portfolio, helping to produce and finalise year-end accounts, reviewing work prepared by junior members of the team and acting as a trusted point of contact for clients.

The focus of the role is not simply processing accounts. It is about managing relationships, understanding clients, supporting them properly and taking pride in the standard of work being delivered.

The role will involve:

• Managing your own portfolio of clients
• Building strong, long-standing client relationships
• Overseeing the preparation and finalisation of year-end accounts

• Acting as a trusted contact for clients throughout the year
• Supporting improvements in systems, processes and ways of working

The person:

• You will need previous experience working within an accountancy practice and be comfortable managing client relationships.
• You may already be operating at Client Manager, Portfolio Manager, Senior Accountant, Practice Accountant or Accounts Manager level.
• You do not need to be someone who wants a high-pressure corporate environment. The firm is looking for someone who cares about doing things properly, enjoys working with clients and wants to be part of a positive, professional and evolving practice.
