Purpose of the Role
To support the development of audits aligned to the bank's standards and objectives by working collaboratively with colleagues, providing accurate information and recommendations, and complying with policies and procedures.

- Identification of operational risks to support the delivery of the Barclays Internal Audit (BIA) Audit Plan through risk assessments.
- Assessment of internal control effectiveness and their capability to identify and mitigate risk aligned to regulatory requirements.
- Communication of key findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including the Audit Owner, senior managers and directors.
- Identification of regulatory news and industry trends/developments to provide timely insight and recommendations for best practice.
- Manage a business function, providing significant input to function‐wide strategic initiatives.
- Contribute to and influence policy and procedures for the function and plan, manage and consult on multiple complex and critical strategic projects, which may be business‐wide.
- Lead the direction of a large team or sub‐function, leading other people managers and embedding a performance culture aligned to the values of the business.
- Act as a deep technical expert and thought leader, identifying new ways of working and collaborating cross‐functionally.
- Train, guide and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long‐term profits, organisational risks and strategic decisions.
- Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions outside of own function, offering significant input to function‐wide strategic initiatives.
- Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub‐function.
- Escalate breaches of policies or procedures appropriately.
- Foster and guide compliance, ensuring regulations are observed and that relevant processes are in place to facilitate adherence.
- Monitor and influence the external environment, regulators and advocacy groups on behalf of Barclays when appropriate.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division or group to achieve overall business objectives.
- Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline, alongside up‐to‐date sector or functional knowledge and insight into external market developments.
- Use interpretive thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex or sensitive situations.
- Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area.
- Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.
- Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions or business divisions.
- Serve as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
- Collaborate and support the Portfolio Manager to define the appropriate coverage strategy and audit plan for UK Corporate Bank (including Global Transaction Banking).
- Guide, review and approve work carried out on audit assignments to ensure scope is appropriate, controls are correctly identified, assessed and carried out in accordance with BIA methodology, policies, professional standards and budget.
- Lead the relationships with the Accountable Executives and infrastructure leads covering UK Corporate Bank, empowering the team to deliver effective continuous monitoring through leadership of the overall CM strategy.
- Deputise where needed for the Portfolio Manager at relevant governance committees and meetings.
- Grow capable and diverse talent within the BIA Corporate Bank team, enhancing overall leadership capability.
- Deliver a view on the effectiveness and adequacy of risk management and controls to the business and BIA management, and to the Board Audit Committee.
- Contribute to clear and insightful committee reporting for Group and legal entities as well as division‐specific reporting.
- Build a deep understanding of the UK Corporate Bank business and any emerging risks or changes that may impact the portfolio and audit plan.
- Adapt plans when appropriate.
- Drive efficient delivery of the audit plan by promoting a culture of efficiency through expert knowledge, supporting strategic direction and using Agile techniques.
- Optimise opportunities to use data analytics and AI.

- Ensure lessons learnt are undertaken where events or issues are identified to continuously improve BIA.
